#2: be grateful
you never know what you have until it is gone. this time more now than ever, you may have realized that you have some really special people in your life.
What makes you happy? Have you ever wondered why? Join us as we take an experimental approach on what makes people happier.
You may not have your team around you physically, but emotionally we are all still here together. Gratitude is important because it is strongly associated with greater levels of happiness. Gratitude helps to improve your optimism and your health. Most importantly is helps to build strong relationships.
You can build the strongest of relationships RIGHT NOW because you are WILLINGLY making the decision to contact that person. You aren’t just having conversation because you are sitting next to each other in class or at practice together, when this all blows over you’ll have some great friends to support around you.
DON’T WAIT FOR OTHERS TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR YOU. START A CHAIN REACTION OF GRATITUDE!
The secret to gratitude is sharing it with others.
“thankful thursdays”
The implementation of gratitude into our social “distance” team will be in the form of “THANKFUL THURSDAYS”.
Our system will work on the basis of rotations of a “Care Pair”. In a Care Pair, students are asked to check in with each other each day to ask how everything is going, ask how the workout is, etc. This can be done by text, but better implemented by talking on the phone.
On “Thankful Thursdays”, we will ask that students share what they are thankful for in the other person in their “Care Pair”. They can be thankful for something this person did recently or something that they did in the past.
#3: remember, it’s a journey
everyday is an opportunity to get better.the goal is to train smart, not hard.
You may have had some lofty goals this Spring that just won’t happen for you anymore, but believe they will eventually come from doing the right things over time. You will get there as long as you continue to look at how you can improve.
You don’t need to run a PR to KNOW you have grown STRONGER!!!!
#4: learn
it’s always a great time to learn to become a better teammate!
“WISDOM WEDNESDAYS”
Each Sunday, I’ll be sharing with you a few pages from a book, online article, or even a video. Please read it (or watch it) & come prepared to our Wednesday Zoom sessions on with thoughts and/or questions about the reading. These Zoom sessions will be called our “Wisdom Wednesdays”!
Wisdom Wednesdays will be the topic of Zoom sessions @3:25pm on Wednesdays!
#5: this is about passion.
the most successful people don’t consider what they do a sacrifice, it’s a passion.
Don’t ever let running feel like work or something that you have to do.
This is about living a purposeful life, a life with greater meaning.
Running provides you a means to engage in a healthy habit that inspires others.
The word sacrifice gets thrown around a lot when it comes to life changing decisions. Bodybuilder, Kai Greene, says it best here.
